WHAT IS PHA?
PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) is a natural material made by specialised microbes through fermentation — a bit like brewing beer. But instead of alcohol, the microbes produce a polymer using renewable plant oils and sugars as their food source.
This material can be shaped into strong, versatile products like straws, cups, cutlery, bags, and food packaging — all without relying on petroleum.
But the real power of PHA shows at the end of its life. In the right conditions — whether that’s soil, home compost, in the ocean, or even landfill — it biodegrades fully, breaking down into just water, CO₂ and biomass. No microplastics. No toxins. Just nature doing its job.
